MESMERIZED
Words & Music by Stan Clark, © 2026

In a rhythm, excited again
Images lighting up my brain
Revved up about something insane
Off track, a runaway train

Mesmerized
Mesmerized (Gotta wake up)
Mesmerized
Mesmerized (Ya gotta wake up!)

Curves calling out my name
No shame, no one to blame
Soul fire can never be tame
Feel the heat, fan the flame
(Oh…) Just stirring my coffee
(Oh…) Staring into the cosmic cup
(Oh…) When I see what’s spinning my mind
(Oh…) It all starts waking me up!

Mesmerized
Mesmerized (See your mind)
Mesmerized
Mesmerized (Free your mind!).
I wander in a colorful maze
Magic beings under my gaze
Freak fire fully ablaze
Never ever going to change my ways
Gotta pass through a turbulent phase
To entrain with the primal wave

Mesmerized
Mesmerized (Ride the primal wave)
Mesmerized
Mesmerized (Ride the primal wave)

Wavering, quavering Sway in time with everything
Hum along
The song goes on and on

MAGIC BEINGS IN THE SKY
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2010, © 2025

Grew up a goof on the panhandle plains
So much sky over fields of grains
Oil refinery blowin’ in the wind
Cattle munchin’ waiting for the end

On the ground goons gather ‘round
Not much happenin’ in this cowboy town
Tough guys trolling on the playground
People preachin’ ‘bout love with a frown

But there were…magic beings in the sky
Puffy creatures floating by
Magic beings in the sky
Magic beings in the sky

Sunday morning awakened to the day
Taken to church couldn’t get away
No idea what the preacher was sayin’
But my spirits lifted whenever he was done prayin’
Couldn’t wait to hit the parking lot
I burst through the doors like a cannon shot
Out where the wild wind carried me away
In my imagination I was free to play

With magic beings in the sky
Speckled shadows whirl and fly
Magic beings in the sky
Magic beings in the sky

Heard a man talking on Bill O’
About a church sign he’d seen in Amarillo
“Blessed are those who believe without seeing”
Oh I was so filled with the thrill of us agreeing

No need to see to believe what you feel
No need to worry if it’s real or not real
When you’re tired of feeling mired
Free your mind, lift your eyes up skyward

To magic beings in the sky
Pulsing diamonds and a fiery eye
Magic beings in the sky
Magic beings in the sky

Always remember, whatever get’s said
Myriad wonders hover over your head
When you’re down and you feel like cryin’
Look to the sky and let your mind go flyin’

Doesn’t matter what you think is up there
So many stories blowing through the air
Believe what you will but don’t let it bore ya
Leave it all behind, I’ll meet you in Euphoria!

With magic beings in the sky
Fairy dust sprinkles way up high
Magic beings in the sky
Magic beings in the sky
STORYTIME
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 2007, © 2025

Everybody’s got a story from a certain point of view
Some know how to spin it, make you think it came from you
Put a spell on you baby, pull the world over your eyes
Paint reality in black and white, tell a tale that satisfies

Gather ‘round now children, don’t you know it’s storytime
Listen if you’re willing or let the words just trail on by

There was once a peaceful village full of folks like you and me
All pitching in together to pass each moment pleasantly
One day a smiling stranger came wandering into town
Picking out comments here and there and passing ugly rumors ‘round

Gather ‘round now children, don’t you know it’s storytime
Listen if you’re willing or let the words just trail on by

Wasn’t very long now ‘for the village was a-buzz
People denyin’ an lyin’ ‘bout some thing that never was

Crowds began to seek this man; they all wanted to know
Who was doing what to whom, who said what about so-and-so

Gather ‘round now children, don’t you know it’s storytime
Listen if you’re willing or let the words just trail on by

Pretty soon the stranger convinced ‘bout half the town
To rise up ‘gainst their neighbors ‘gainst the plot to take them down
So happens he was well-equipped with a stockpile of arms to sell
And after half had bought their share he armed the other half as well

Gather ‘round now people, don’t you know it’s glory time
It’s a war if you’re willing to kill and you don’t mind dyin’
You don’t mind dyin’
You don’t mind dyin’
You don’t mind dyin’

Everybody’s got a story from a certain point of view
Some know how to spin it make you think it came from you
Put a spell on you baby, pull the world over your eyes,
Paint reality in black and white, tell a tale that satisfies

Gather ‘round now children, don’t you know it’s storytime
Listen if you’re willing or let the words just trail on by

LIFE BETWEEN TWO RIVERS
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 1991, © 2025

Life between two rivers
Thrives for seven thousand years
Water flowing always
Moving on through unknown fears
Souls are locked in hardened bodies
Light enclosed in dark
Danger now repeats itself
The fuel ignites the spark

You can grow accustomed to anything
The rivers cry
You must grow accustomed to everything
To float on by

There’s a force beyond the rivers
With no regard for life
Desire overflows the banks
And plunges like a knife
Plunging in and staying
Taking refuge in the will
Beyond the sanctuary
Where darkness claims its kill

You can grow accustomed to anything
The rivers cry
You must grow accustomed to everything / To float on by

Where the water flows sincere
The living will abound
While the desert fills with countless forms
That belly on the ground
Like Christians stoning sinners
Each comes forth to cast his power
Finding in the other
All he’s hidden in his darkest hour
Killing just for killing sake
With every move they make
Taking at the edge of Eden
All that’s left to take

You can grow accustomed to anything
The rivers cry
You must grow accustomed to everything
To float on by
Float on by
Float on by, down the Tigris
Float on by, down the Euphrates
Seventeen hundred miles
Float on by

By the river you can get
Prepared, if only you will let
The turmoil that can swirl you down
Slip on by, flow around
By the river you can get
Prepared, if only you will let
The turmoil that can swirl you down
Slip on by, flow around

You can grow accustomed to anything
The rivers cry
You must grow accustomed to everything
To float on by

Words & Music by Stan Clark, 2021, © 2025

Who in the hell do you think you are
Up there looking down
On all us ordinary people?
Hephaestus by your side
Forging thunderbolts
You can hurl down
At everyone you deem evil
Your followers have scattered
Your temple walls are shattered
Now who you tryin' to blame
For all this upheaval

Hey Zeus, what about justice
Ain’t that like one of your most important godly duties?
Can’t keep the Titans in line
Too busy messin’ 'round
With all them nymphs
And all them mortal beauties
Folks are gettin' wild and unruly
Gonna take you down
And you know I'm, uh, speakin' truly

Me and brother Dionysus agree
Don’t need much to feel right each day
Livin’ in the Cosmos naturally
Sheds most of our cares away

Who in the hell do you think you are
Up there looking down
On all us ordinary people?
You and your pantheon all puffed up
Man these times, ah they're so medieval
Won't be long 'til you're tumblin' down
Time to reckon
For all this upheaval
Stumblin', fumblin', tumblin' down
Tumble on down
Ha!

QUINTESSA
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2008, © 2025

I’m running
I’m always late
There’s a woman
I’m gonna blame
The reason
I can’t concentrate
She’s messin’
With her favorite game
That’s right
That’s right

Quintessa, you devil
You tease me and string me along
Toy with me all night long
Come on now, just bring me a song

I see you
In the marketplace
Chase you
You disappear
Close my eyes
See your face
So far away
And yet so near
It’s true
It’s true

She comes to me
Sometimes, so easily
When the time’s not right
In the middle of the night
When I’m tired or hungry
Headed for the john
Lost inside a movie
Way too much going on
Or just trying to get some peace
With someone nice
Close to release

And suddenly
A song
Appears
Out of nowhere
A melody
A rhythm
A fairytale
That fills the air

I’m running
Always late
There’s a woman
I wanna blame
The reason
I can’t concentrate
She’s messin’
With her favorite game
That’s right
That’s right
That’s right
That’s right

WAITING
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 1971, © 1981

Waiting all her life
Waiting for things to turn out right
Will she be waiting when she dies?

Watching others’ lies
Looking, looking for some surprise
She only lives through the images on her eyes
Or maybe she sees something we don’t realize

Hiding in her fright
Lurking in corners of the night
Maybe she’s waiting ‘til she thinks that it’s alright
Or maybe she sees something we don’t realize
JUDAS
Words by Mike Taylor & Stan Clark,
Music by Stan Clark & Ari Taylor, 2014 © 2025

Judas is there in his favorite chair
Wearing his usual grin
Dust and blood crusted on his hat
Tilting back a bottle of gin
He shoots a quick glance at Alice
Cody takes a sip of his brew,
She palms the cards lying in her lap
While working on a wad of chew

Now Virgil, rolls up his sleeves
Keepin’ a watchful eye
Sits down at the piano
Starts banging out “Nelly Bly”
Judas shuffles the cards
Alice splits the deck
Virgil watches, Judas smiles
Runs his finger across his neck

It’s the kiss of Judas
On the field of blood
Not a drop of mercy
Once he’s got you down in the mud
He’ll talk you up
‘Til your guard is down
Pull his knife and stick ya
Twist it around

Now Cody got lucky on a silver claim
Came in to have some fun
Playing poker at the Holy Moses
And he was having a pretty good run
Judas lays a case of aces
Cody calls him a cheat
Flips the table with his pistol drawn
Backs his way out to the street

Judas is at the ready
One hand on his Colt
The other on his dagger
Deciding which way to bolt
He fixes his eyes on Virgil
Turning slow like a stalking cat
Pockets the silver and bellows out
What the hell are YOU lookin’ at?

It’s the kiss of Judas
On the field of blood
Not a drop of mercy
Once he’s got you down in the mud
He’ll talk you up
‘Til your guard is down
Pull his knife and stick ya
Twist it around

We all know this story
It plays out again and again
And there ain’t no moment of glory
Where some good guys actually win

Judas storms over to Virgil
Bumps him and passes by
Virgil keeps his head down
Letting his fingers fly
Judas hollers for another drink
Twitches as he slugs it down
Pours another and drains it
And spins himself around

Virgil reaches under the keyboard
Playing with just one hand
Grabs ahold of his .44
Getting’ ready to make a stand
Judas staggers to the swinging doors
Calls out Virgil’s name
It’s time to rock, the music stops
And both the men take aim

It’s the kiss of Judas
On the field of blood
Not a drop of mercy
Once he’s got you down in the mud
He’ll talk you up
‘Til your guard is down
Pull his knife and stick ya
Twist it around and around
BAREBACK RIDERS
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 2004, © 2025

So suddenly, they appear to me
Bareback riders
As the sun paints the forest floor red, clothes are shed
Bareback riders
Galloping down to the draw
No authority or law could stop ‘em
Coming down at full speed
Atop of each steed;
All I can do is watch ‘em
Bareback riders

Standing astride, arms spread wide
Bareback riders
Sunbeams bathing every shape, every side Bareback riders
They’re in and out and between
Every space I can see
Passing from tree to tree
They don’t even see me
Bareback riders

Standing here astounded, completely surrounded
Bareback riders
Lost in the sound of hooves on the ground Bareback riders
Hair streaming into the air
Bouncing bare, they’re everywhere
Scattering hither and yon
‘Til the twilight is gone
Bareback riders

Wild wondrous women riding free
Chasing through shade and shadow
Full-figured goddesses glide gracefully
As they streak through the trees to the meadow

One last leap, landing light on their feet Bareback riders
Balancing square on the croup of each mare Bareback riders
I stare as they’re crossing the stream
At the place where they’ve been
Do you think I’m just tossing a dream
As I say what I’ve seen?
Bareback riders
Bareback riders
Bareback riders
Bareback riders
Bareback riders
Ride on!

XENOS
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2013, © 2025

Now Xenos came wandering
To the village just before twilight
He was haggard and hairy
And walking, not quite upright
Well he noticed Mr. Stiffly
Glaring with a tilted head
He said Hey now, look in the lake man
There’s a face there that will scare you dead!
Xenos could have fled
But he stayed instead

Now Xenos took his clothes off
And walked out into the lake
And old Madam Peery
Well her voice began to quake
She said Out of here you animal!
With her hands cupped over her eyes
But Xenos caught her peeking
Through her fingers at his……prize

Come on in, the waters good,
Cried Xenos with a smile
It can purify a dirty mind
If you soak in here awhile.

Xenos wore nothing
Nothing but a smile

We tend to disapprove of those
Who do what we keep hidden
And blame them for awakening
The urges we’ve forbidden

Now some of the most curious children
From the village liked to sneak away
To the forest to find Xenos
‘Cause he was always free to play
Making faces, talking gibberish
And dancing like a fool;
Then one night some of the villagers
Well they followed them after school
Xenos almost always
Played the fool

Villagers in coal-black hoods
Swarmed around the stranger
Young ones rushed in to help
Protect him from the danger
Sticks, staves, and bludgeons crack
But soon the mob was scattered
Moonlight shone through the clouds
On bodies dazed and battered;
Dazed and battered

In the chaos there, the frenzied crowd
Had set upon their own
And Xenos had just snaked away
And shouted down now from a tower of stone
Behold yourselves and have a laugh / Your fate is yours alone
He was never heard or seen again
But the story still lives on.

The story still lives on
WEALTH OF THE SMALL
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 1988, © 2025

In the stillness below where the thunder is heard
A message arrives in the form of a bird
Striving below brings a fortune to all
Who are willing to settle for a wealth of the small

In the mountains, thunder is nearer it seems
Shaking awake all who drift in their dreams
The wakeful remember they’re part of it all
And are willing to settle for a wealth of the small

Guess just how long it will take
To escape the tempting mistake
Of flying too high and losing it all?
The moment you settle for a wealth of the small

The bird flies too high and is shot to the ground
The stillness is lost in a moment of sound
But the message has offered a fortune to all
Who are willing to settle for a wealth of the small

Julian walks through walls and is free
Snowden celebrates his amnesty
Chelsea brings truth to cable TV
Taking on all the powers that be
Fantasies blossom to reality
The wondrous world,
The wondrous world,
The wondrous world,
Is right inside

Apartheid falls in Palestine
We open up every borderline
Women in the world unite and thrive
Men go within and begin to arrive
We all embrace Nature in time to survive
The wondrous world,
The wondrous world,
The wondrous world,
Is right inside

Imagine Lennon and Marley singing (One love)
Tupac and Zappa rappin’ and bringin’ it (One heart)
Bill Hicks deliverin’ the news
Rogan and Greenwald bantering views
Janis and Satchmo singing the blues
The wondrous world,
The wondrous world,
The wondrous world,
Is right inside

Titans in our halls of heroes remind us to look around
With yours and mine, we arise with new eyes
And abandon the battleground
Abandon the battleground!

Military bases are banned worldwide
Love prevails, greed subsides
Jimi and Jaco side-by-side
With Moon and Coltrane jammin’ in my mind
In a whole other space
Way beyond time
It’s a wondrous world (Wondrous world)
It’s a wondrous world (Wondrous world)
It’s a wondrous world…
So wondrous (spoken) | Right here inside…

And one fine day who knows, who knows
There’s no one way it has to go
But for now put me down for the whole damn show
Down to the finish ‘til I’m ready to go…
It’s a wondrous world
It’s a wondrous world
It’s a wondrous world
So wondrous
Here
Right here
Inside
THESE ARE MY GROUNDS
Words and Music by Stan Clark 2017, © 2019

Well you gotta get lost before you get found
You gotta be gone to come back around
I’m here today, tomorrow who knows
It’s a matter of time, that’s how it goes

I don’t know about right or wrong
Luck could change before too long
It doesn’t matter if you like it or not
Do what you can with all that you got

You get knocked down, you lose a good friend
It might be awhile, before you get up again
But whatcha gonna do, just lay there & whine?
I’ve lost enough, ain’t gonna lose my mind

I refuse to just waste away
I ain’t got much, I’m gonna keep it in play
Life’s a struggle, but beauty abounds
These are my grounds for gettin’ down

These are my grounds
Yeah, these are my grounds for getting’ down
Down, down, down, down, down
PLENTIFUL LOVIN’
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2009, © 2019

Everybody needs plentiful lovin’
Holdin’ and huggin’, ticklin’ and tuggin’
Layin’ back, lettin’ out slack
Ain’t nothin’ like that to get a body on track
Later on we’ll get more done
If we take enough time for some lovin’ and fun
Brings out the best, lays the beast to rest
You can understand it brings more peace to the planet

I said, everybody needs plentiful lovin’
Squeezin’ and snugglin’, wrestlin’ and rubbin’
It takes a lot more than just heapin’ and hoverin’
Time to explore whatever needs uncoverin’
Gotta let go enough to know
What she’s really needin’ and help it be so
Give enough space for the need for embrace
To fully recover, rediscover your lover

Well, it always takes two
To get to that place
That inner way on through
To the outer reaches of space

Everybody needs plentiful lovin’
Or else we get grumpy, jerky, and jumpy
Even Dick Cheney needs some TLC
A patriotic hottie to jump on his body
Too little touch, he’s grindin’ his teeth
Sneerin’ and scowlin’, and strugglin’ to breathe
It’s easy to read what he really needs
Frankenstein’s bride to roll him
‘Round and ‘round ‘til he’s pacified

Everybody needs plentiful lovin’
Make her a snack or whatever she’s lackin’
We can scoop out a fleshy avocado
On a hot tortilla with some salsa and tomato
Just takin’ time to satisfy our needs
We know where helping each other leads
Back to the snugglin’, kissin’, and nuzzlin’
Cause everybody needs
Plentiful lovin’
Plentiful lovin’
Plentiful lovin’
Plentiful lovin’
 NOT THAT KIND
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2004, © 2019

I’ll smile at your sweetness when you pass by
You might see a twinkle in my eye
I’ll bare witness if you strip down to your soul
But I won’t submit this heart to your control

I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
Not that kind at all

I’m willing to wander far away
And if you wanna slip out baby that’s okay
I’m not into forcing it if it don’t fit
I’ve already given up more than I got from it

And I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
Not that kind at all

I’ll listen as you scavenge through your words
To lament your life among the herds
Of people always trying to be the same
But I just can’t join you in that game
No, no, no

I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
Not that kind at all

Well, I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
I’m not that kind (not that kind)
Not that kind at all
ALL WHO WANDER
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2012, © 2019

Bobby snuck out to watch the stars at night
Used to say Everything is made from waves of light
Kicked out of school, let his hair grow long
Set out to reckon with a world gone wrong

Gotta love all who wander, all who dare
To stray way out yonder drifting here and there
Take to the highway, take to the wilderness
Embracing the mystery in a sweet caress
Embracing the mystery in a sweet caress

Jubal joined the Navy to get away
From greasy dishes in his mom's cafe
Came home from Korea with a mess of scars
Let on how he fought there in the “battle of the bars”

Sleeping here and there like a Bedouin
He sang about living the dreams of other men
I bought him a drink once, he offered me advice
Travel the world son, shake every bush twice

Gotta love all who wander, all who dare
To stray way out yonder just to see what’s there
Take to the highway, to the wilderness
Embracing the mystery in a sweet caress
Embracing the mystery in a sweet caress

Townes was moody and he rambled around
His mother committed him; they strapped him down
Zapped him ‘til his boyhood memories died
When he sang you'd hear that long-lost boy inside

Chasing the dragon, lost in reverie
Swigging gin and whiskey all over Tennessee
Touring out of his El Torino, he lived to fly
Fish-tailing down the road, spitting death in the eye

Gotta love all who wander, all who dare
Straying way out yonder just to be out there
Take to the highway, to the wilderness
Embracing the mystery in a sweet caress

Jack hit the highway on a holy quest
To rise above desolation and emptiness
Swinging words like a Bebop trumpeteer
Sharing jugs of wine in the alley, cavalier

Howling and moaning for his fellow man
Expecting epiphanies, pen in hand
On a journey just to tell a tale
Slipping into silence down some lonesome trail

Gotta love all who wander, all who dare
To stray way out yonder, drifting here and there
Take to the highway, to the wilderness
Embracing the mystery in a sweet caress

Gotta love all who wander, all who dare
Straying way out yonder just to be out there
Take to the highway, to the wilderness
Embracing the mystery

ROLLING ON
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2019, ©2019

Rolling down the road
Listenin’ to the radio
And I’m hoping you will go
Won’t you come along with me?

We’ll ride, through the countryside,
See the blur of the world fly by
And let the spell of time
Slide free

Roll, rolling on
Each moment here and gone
Down another stretch of road through the country

Down the road, down the road
Breezes blowing through the window
And I smile as cars whiz by
At folks I’ll never know

Hear that freight train whistle blow
All these semis roaring low
We’re all part of the same roadshow / Rollin’ along

Roll, rolling on
Each moment here and gone
Down another stretch of road
Through the country
Roll, rolling on
You may say we’re on our own
But in a way we’re all part
Of the same story

Roll, rolling on
Each moment here and gone
Down another stretch of road
Through the country

Rolling down the road
Listenin’ to the radio
And I hope you come along
Come along

ROSE AND A THORN
Words by Jubal Clark & Stan Clark, Music by Jubal Clark, © 1997 (Jubal Clark), © 2019

A brown bottle, a great big bed
Just a rose and a thorn
All dressed up from our toes to our heads
Like the day we were born
Grinning, spinning our blues away
Laughing and loving the night into day
A brown bottle a great big bed
Just a rose and a thorn

Let’s unwind the clock, shut the shutters and the doors
Pull the phone out of the wall
There ain’t nothing outside this great big bed
I want to think about at all
Humming, strumming, coming on strong
Blowing and going the whole night long
A brown bottle a great big bed
Just a rose and a thorn

It takes a rose & a thorn sometimes to get the rhythm going right
And to keep it that way
Cause when the rhythm is right there can’t nothing go wrong
If you stay in bed all day
I’m rosy and cozy, she murmurs real low
I’m thorny, horny, ready to go
A brown bottle a great big bed
Just a rose & a thorn

A brown bottle, a great big bed
Just a rose and a thorn
All dressed up from our toes to our heads
Like the day we were born
Grinning, spinning our blues away
Laughing and loving the night into day
A brown bottle a great big bed
Just a rose and a thorn

THE BEST WAY
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 2003, © 2018

I was biking down San Francisco street
On my way past NAU
I must have just forgotten about
What I’d set out to do

I found myself on the Urban Trail
Riding with reckless abandon
Free-wheeling all the way down
To the bottom of Walnut Canyon

It’s the best way I’ve ever gone to get anywhere
I don’t mind what I find when I get there
‘Cause the way I feel, feels so real I really just don’t care
It’s the best way I’ve ever gone to get anywhere

Now Bisbee Ann keeps a regular date
With Puff the Magic Dragon
When life’s too much like reality TV
You can see her flaggin’

She can never seem to get too much
Of Puff’s sweet inspiration
Says he always sets her right on course
To the heart of her imagination

It’s the best way she’s ever gone to get anywhere
No matter what you say about the way that she gets there
‘Cause the way she feels, feels so real, she really just don’t care
It’s the best way she’s ever gone to get anywhere

I used to be the man with the plan
Trying to create my own existence
But I could never make the perfect Stan
In spite of my persistence

Now I’m letting go, letting the flow
Carry me wherever it’s going
And where I’ll be at the end of the day
Well, there’s just no way of knowing

It’s the best way I’ve ever gone to get anywhere
I don’t give a damn where I am when I get there
‘Cause the way I feel, feels so real, I really just don’t care
It’s the best way I’ve ever gone to get anywhere

VEIL OF TEARS
Words & Music by Stan Clark 2017, © 2019

Crawl out of bed in the morning
Or the early afternoon
Do all the things that we have to
‘Til the night reveals the moon
Try to make a little magic
Try to find a speck of truth
Try to ease our aching hearts
Put our love to some good use

Cause it’s a veil of tears right here
Right here, between me and you
A veil of tears between us
And we can’t see what’s true
And it won’t let us get right here
Right here like the dogs can do
We may never get it right
But we might
Get a little closer here tonight

Let’s soothe each other when we stumble
And you know we all do
Find the fun in the roll and tumble
When we tussle let’s call a truce
Get lost in the spell of some rhythm
Lose a little of our blues
Find a way to help the pain
Cause we can’t help but be confused

Cause it’s a veil of tears right here
Right here, between me and you
A veil of tears between us
And we can’t see what’s true
And it won’t let us get right here
Right here like the dogs can do
We may never get it right
But we might
Get a little closer here tonight

So let’s love the best we can
Share a tune or two my friend
Take a nap in the back of the van
Fall into the world within
If we awaken better humans
Maybe we can try…try this all again

Cause it’s a veil of tears right here
Right here, between me and you
A veil of tears between us
And we can’t see what’s true
And it won’t let us get right here
Right here like the dogs can do
We may never get it right
But we might
Get a little closer
Get a little closer
Get a little closer
Here tonight

Well I took you in past the tall stone wall
Through the gate across the hard courtyard
I walked you around the battleground
Where many a soul was scarred
Keeping the inner sanctum free
From the scourge of scoundrel’s swords
And I showed you a view from the parapet
Where the greedy got their just rewards

Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Boomerang

I said Go to the edge, stand on the ledge
Do what you have to do
Here or there when the truth is laid bare
It will be the end of you.

I put a snake on the floor, slammed the door
Sealed it with an iron bar
And abandoned my puzzled prisoner
Trapped like a moth in a jar

Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Boomerang

Down smooth stone steps circling into the depths
I came upon a gloomy tomb
I rested there like a monk in prayer
Waiting for my moment of doom
I saw my life flash by in the blink of an eye
All the deeds that had led me to ruin
All I‘d done to everyone
Everything I’d ever thought about doin’

Beware the boomerang
Here come the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Boomerang

Go ahead try to hide / Try to put it outta your mind
It will whiz in from behind / The boomerang

I felt the weight of hatred upon my chest
Smotherin’ the breath outta me
Decided to just accept my death
And BAM all at once I was free
I’m gonna be the way I am
And pay what I have to pay
And be at one with the energy
That carried me here today

Well, I am the boomerang
I am the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Boomerang

Here come the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
The boomerang

Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Beware the boomerang
Boomerang
INTO THE NIGHT
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2009, © 2019

Slipping out / I think I’ll go wandering about
Where light and sound / Fade into background
Already starting to feel alright / Just moving…into the night

Hasten away, make excuses if you must /Shake off that cloud of domestic dust
Let each gust of wind nudge you on / ‘Til wanderlust takes over, now you’re really gone
Under the stars all sprinkling light…/ Far away…into the night

Into the night / Eyes full of moonlight
Drifting….dreaming / Nothing here to hide / The inside from the outside

Hear those footsteps tapping down the road / Let your feet decide where they want you to go
You never know / What you may find /
Maybe even romance / If choice & chance align
Out here, no familiar place in sight… / Just blending…into the night

Open to surprise / Whatever may arise
Senses streaming / Nothing here to hide / The inside from the outside

Slipping out…/ I think I’ll go wandering about
Where light and sound / Fade into background
Already starting to feel so right…/ Just moving…into the night
Into the night /Into the night

PASSING SLEEPING CITIES
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 1975, © 1981

Passing sleeping cities chasing highways through the midnight
Watching headlights, stars, and road signs trying to make a few miles more
Trying to escape this white line racing sleep toward the daylight
Wondering, ain’t I done this all before?

Thinking about the past while pressing on toward tomorrow
This old highway’s paved with memories and they’re flashing on my mind
I hover in a silent space of happiness and sorrow
Glancing now and then at the relics left behind

Passing sleeping cities all my life
Though it seems like distant dreams
The many schemes, the lovers, and the lies
That moved me, come back to me tonight
Passing sleeping cities through time

Headed home or leaving, it doesn’t matter where I’m going
Once the twilight breeze is flowing through my windows as I glide
I’m a wink away from dreaming and a dream away from knowing
Why this journey keep me mellowing inside

Passing sleeping cities all my life
Though it seems like distant dreams
The many schemes, the lovers, and the lies
That moved me, come back to me tonight
Passing sleeping cities through time

The faces and the names aren’t the same but again they’re not so different
I’m a preacher, a picker, a rodeo kicker, I’m a rigger with a heavy load
I’m a salesman seeking a fast buck, I’m a hitcher riding on guts and luck
I’m the legendary traveler on the never-ending road

I keep passing sleeping cities all my life
Though it seems like distant dreams
The many schemes, the lovers, and the lies
That moved me, come back to me tonight
Passing sleeping cities through time

I'm runnin, gotta get on out of here
I'm racin', headed for a new frontier
Not sure where I'm goin'
But I'll sure 'nough disappear

Might fly to Tokyo, in a big jet plane
Maybe ride to Nashville, jump that lonesome train
Or head down the road to Jimmy's
Bust off this ankle chain

I'm baffled, bewildered and dazed
Confounded, mystified and amazed
She said I'd be her number one,
But that ain't how it played

Just no tellin', how cold the wind might blow
Stranded here, on this lonely plateau
Not sure where I'm goin'
But I'm damn sure gonna go

So I'm ramblin', I'm rollin' out of town
Yeah, I'm ramblin, rollin' out of town
They say she's gone to Texas
Got no time to hunt her down

I'm baffled, bewildered and dazed
Confounded, mystified and amazed
She said I'd be her number one,
But that ain't how it played

Won't know where I'm goin', 'til I'm almost there
Can't know where I'm goin', ‘til I'm almost there
There's something about just movin'
Gets a mind to thinkin' clear

I'm runnin', yes I'm movin' on
I'm doin', whatever need be done
Finding my way forward,
To that new horizon
Said I'm finding my way forward
To that new horizon

MASSAGES THE HEART
Words by Stan Clark, Music by Kathy Keays & Stan Clark, 1989, © 2011

Well, I started out
I didn’t know where I was going
Full of wonder
No doubt, I was growing
People started messing with me
Telling me what was wrong
With me, my friends
With everything I had going on

I turned away
I found myself a new way to play
I found that music
Massages the heart

Now I had learned
Not to trust people
It’s not that I’d been burned that badly
It’s not that I felt feeble
It’ just I found a way
To get my soul connected
To that underground fountain of life
That leaves no one rejected

Keep on going’
You gotta keep on going’
You’ve gotta let yourself explore
If you wanna find out what you’re really here for

I turned away
I found myself a new way to play
I found that music
Massages the heart
Massages the heart
Massages the heart
Massages the heart

KEEPING STILL
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 1989, © 2011

Keeping…keeping still
Mountain…walls shall fill
With vibration…the power to heal

Keeping…keeping still
Garden…walls may shield
Me from the craving…
All the people feel…the people feel

Sitting…sitting still
Open…open ‘til
Until the moment…is all that’s real…
All that’s real
This moment…is all that’s real
All that’s real
This moment…
This very moment…
Is all that’s real
All that’s real
Right now…
Right now…

Ohhhh (ohhhh), oh-oh (oh-oh)
Ohhhh (ohhhh), oh-oh (oh-oh)
Ohhhh (ohhhh), oh-oh (oh-oh)
Ohhhh (ohhhh), oh-oh (oh-oh)

Keeping…keeping still
Vision…beyond the wheel
Oh guide my actions…‘til they all fulfill
Oh guide my actions…‘til they all fulfill
All fulfill…fulfill the way
Fulfill the way…fulfill the way
Fulfill the way…ah…feel the way

Keeping…keeping still
Mountain…walls shall fill
With vibration…the power to heal
With vibration…the power to heal
The power to heal…the power to heal

JUST SAY YES
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 1989, revised 1994, © 2011

You can point your finger…shout about what’s wrong
You can use your power to destroy or disown
All the wise teachers say “Whatever you fight will grow strong.”
And the gangsters will thrive ‘til the power of the people turns on…turn on

Just say yes
Just say yes
Just say yes
Say yes to freedom

There’s a well of power…bubblin’ underground
Rising hour by hour…can you feel it swirlin’ around
Getting’ higher and higher…’til we’re satisfied
Break the spell of desire…take back your power to decide…take back your power!

Just say yes
Just say yes
Just say yes
Just say yeah (yeah) yeah (yeah) yeah (yeah) yeah (yeah)
Say yes to freedom

Goodbye negation…domination…aggravation…adulteration…
Take back the power!
Just say yes
Just say yes
Just say yes
Say yes to freedom
THERE’S A POWER
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 2006, © 2011

There’s a power lighting up these lights
There’s a power in the room tonight
There’s a power carrying sound
Feel the power here moving us around

Well there’s a power between you and me
There’s a power make you wanna break free
You might break away from the things you devour
But you can’t break free from the power

There’s a power buzzing in your head
There’s a mojo power make your face turn red
Feel the power riding through your hips
There’s a power we can share through our…fingertips

Well there’s a power between you and me
There’s a power make you wanna break free
You might break away from the things you devour
But you can’t break free from the power

It’s got you feeling things you don’t understand
Thinkin’ ‘bout things that you never planned
Remembering things you’d rather forget
Doing things that you’re going to regret
You might break away from the things you devour
But you can’t break free from the power

There’s a power, can you feel it here?
Feel the power deep enough you’ll lose your fear
Let the power work its way through you
The power will make you do what you need to do

Well there’s a power between you and me
There’s a power make you wanna break free
You might break away from the things you devour
But you can’t break free from the power

Feel the power as we’re getting down
There’s a power moving us around
There’s a power lighting up these lights
There’s a power in the room tonight
In the room tonight, in the room tonight
In the room tonight, in the room tonight
There’s a power, there’s a power
Feel the power, ah feel the power
INNER ELVIS
Words by Stan Clark, Mark Neumann, & Tom Carpenter; Music by Stan Clark, 2010, © 2011

This daddy ain’t no groovy daddyo
He’s nothing like the King of Tupelo
His eyesight’s going and he’s getting fat
Hates the office and his daughter’s cat
He scares her friends singin’ Roustabout
Revs his Harley when he’s headin’ out
I guess he’s really all about
Finding his inner Elvis
Finding his inner Elvis

Caught in a trap, caught in his easy chair
Watching the ads that claim to grow back hair
He wonders if his comeback’s come and gone
Throws a karate kicks while mowin’ his lawn
Ain’t taking care of business like before
It was alright Mama, but it ain’t no more
Bought a package deal to Vegas
Gonna find his inner Elvis
Finding his inner Elvis

He tries to be cool
Always playing the fool
If you're feeling that blue
You might try a lip curl too.

Wearin’ a jumpsuit with a big gold belt
In the kitchen cooking up a patty melt
He bought himself a brand new Cadillac
Hi wife said “Uh-uh” so he brought it back
He thought he’d be the king of everything
He’d settle now for king of anything
Trying not to tweak his pelvis
Finding his inner Elvis…finding his inner Elvis
Finding his inner Elvis…finding his inner Elvis
WOMEN CAUSING AN EARTHQUAKE
Words and Music by Stan Clark, 2010, © 2011

Women walking, walking on the square
Women walking like they just don’t care
Women moving like a cobra snake
Men watching every move they make
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake

See them showing everything they got
See their rhythm and the way they trot
Watch the way they all jiggle and shake
To let ‘em flaunt it is a big mistake
We gotta stop ‘em for heaven sake
We gotta stop ‘em for heaven sake

Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake

Beware if you let them run free
Before you know it they will run the country
Do what they want, break all the rules
Bring us all together make us look like fools

I see shapes bobbin’ to and fro
Don’t show me nothing, I don’t wanna know
When I see ‘em wanna rock ‘n roll
Give me a feelin’ I just can’t control

Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake
Them women causing an earthquake

AWAKEN ME
Words by Stan Clark; Music by Gary Botello & Stan Clark, 2003, © 2011

Cars whooshin’ by in the distance on wet streets
Mind fills with memories of my defeats
TV drones on in my room and I can’t think
I need a holiday, don’t need a shrink

Though the whole world may be asleep
And I seem to be into the dream awaken me, awaken me

Pundits and politicians baiting me
Emails and telephone sales invading me
Headlines and billboard signs…capturing
Sexual images…enrapturing

Though the whole world may be asleep
And I seem to be into the dream awaken me, awaken me
Awaken me…. awaken me

There’s money to be made, bills to be paid
A promising promotion, a villa by the ocean
A platinum card, a spa in the yard
A temple full of saviors, 31 flavors

Though the whole world may be asleep
And I seem to be into the dream
Awaken me
Awaken me

I’ll do the same for you
Bust out of the game for you too
When you’re lost in the crowd
Just shout out loud
Wake up, wake up, wake up
We’ve got a lot to undo

Sunlight and wind through the trees, awaken me
Birds singing soft melodies, awaken me
Seagulls and waves rolling in
The warmth and smell of your skin…
Awaken me, awaken me, awaken me

HOMEWARD
Words & Music by Stan Clark, 2008, ©2011

Oh I am, I am, I am moving onward
Winding, wandering along
Rambling, ambling, scrambling forward
Tumbling on and on

On and on…ever homeward
Taking to the back road
Whenever I get bored
Carrying home my load

Pull away, pull away, pull away
From what’s holding you there
Whirling you astray…
Away from here…unaware

Reach out your hand to one another
You can aid more than a few
Help me help us here, to help each other
Sharing the journey as we do
From the first day of our birth
Sharing the same mama, Mother Earth

To find your own true light
In the infinity of being
You must separate and unite
The mind's eye ever seeing

Did I imagine voices saying
Do you remember why you came
All the way down in here?
You can rise above the game
Let go yourself go further
Let your self go further
Let your self go!
Let your self go!
Let your self go!
Further....further....further and further
We’re headed home!
